As long as they keep looking in the wrong place to stop enemy attacks on innocents, they'll keep seeking ways to restrict domestic freedoms. When they stop trying to fight a war purely through futile defensive measures, and go on the offensive where the war's masterminds actually live, then we may entertain some hopes for the future of free societies.
