considering all these sites had to run on 5 kbps connections and PCs with single cores running at 150-300mghz on a single thread with just 64 Megs of ram and integrated cards so bad their performance metrics was based on how many colors it could display it all makes sense.

64 megs of ram.....oh how i wish.
my first pentium had 8MB of ram and 2MB of that was for graphics.

but yeah loading sites of today back then, we'd have to wait for hours to open yahoo.

I remember my school still having bbc acorns before they changed them to proper PC's, the internet on them was awful.. talking probably about a minute at times just to load a fairly simple page.
