An interesting article, we are in an unique spot today, where people chose to trust a corporation over their government.
But that corporation is Apple, I doubt the opinion would be so one-sided if it was Comcast.
I think it has to do with general perception of those two things: it's in corporation's (Apple's) best interest to keep their customers and their trust safe and happy, because they'll otherwise lose them and have less profit (if any at all).
Apple is a lot more dependant on public opinion, whereas a goverment will always preservere (in one iteration or another). Goverment doesn't depend on their trust, all they have to do is collect taxes in order to keep them fed. This along the usual disdain for politics (and cases of corruption) adds up and we get this result.
Also, the fact that Apple has a cult following helps as well.
