Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker frontman David Lowery, retaining the law firm of Michelin & Robinson LLP, has filed a class action lawsuit seeking at least $150 million in damages against Spotify, alleging it knowingly, willingly, and unlawfully reproduces and distributes copyrighted compositions without obtaining mechanical licenses.
This has been a long-requested feature.
Spotify has not announced the feature’s launch, but many users have reported seeing real-time lyrics on their Nest Hub devices.

Oh, man! There goes a great App!!!
Unfortunately, especially in the United States, the data necessary to confirm the appropriate rightsholders is often missing, wrong, or incomplete.
Well dang, with all the hoops you have to jump through just to be legit, is it any wonder mistakes are made. Now if only my car was able hold as much value as single song, I'd be set.
Notice how not a single artist's name was mentioned. It's probably because they'll likely never see a single cent from their benevolent publishers or their lawyers lawsuit. The more I hear about artists and a special breed of publisher's, the more they seem like musicians with a long chain attached to a seemingly benign master.
Who's Jennifer Knapp? Most don't know of her. I'm sure a small army attorneys of behind her publishers would go through through great lengths skim, delay or outright avoid paying her due. If someone were to steal her music that is...
Let me get this straight they are suing someone who is willing and has the money to pay you if you just ask for it? If you don't want your music on Spotify request it be removed or actually sue yourself for having horrible licensing management which is why your funds are not already in your pocket.
I don't think these music company's understand what time period this is. If Spotify didn't exist almost everyone would go back to using torrents. Personally I buy music when I have extra money but I would need thousands to buy all the music I like to listen to which is why with Spotify I can become fans of new bands and possibly a future purchaser of their CD's. If Spotify ceases to exist I will just go back to torrents and probably not find new bands to listen to.
