AT&T subscribers who previously had unlimited data plans back in the iPhone 3G era and have managed to hang onto that plan are in for their first price increase in seven years, a source with knowledge of the matter has informed 9to5Mac.
The price jump won’t be huge—the almost-too-good-to-be-true rate of $30 will increase to just $35—but it does open the door to further tinkering later down the line, which may make some customers a little uneasy. The change will go into effect in February 2016.
This comes after new net neutrality laws pass in California.
AT&T’s CEO John Stankey said that he expects the pay-TV industry to soon hit a level of little or no growth. He predicts that it will plateau once the number of pay-TV subscribers falls somewhere between 55 and 60 million users.

Great. You can buy my soul now too, AT&T.
Verizon just did this. Although Verizon smacked us with a $20 increase up to $50. Had to keep it. Just couldn't fit into any of the tiered plans with my usage habits, even when using Wifi at home. But after the price hike, I turned off my Wifi completely and used 43GB last month. If I'm paying an increased rate, I'm getting every penny out of it.
