Apple CEO Tim Cook started off his iPad Pro publicity tour earlier this week by declaring that the new tablet "is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop" for lots of people. Judging by most reviews of the iPad Pro, including our own from Lauren Goode and Walt Mossberg, the iPad Pro isn't ready to replace the laptop just yet. That's not stopping Tim Cook from hating on laptop hybrids, though.

Wait until Apple do a hybrid laptop/tablet, it will be 'revolutionary' and 'computing re-imagined' and a whole host of other Apple-speak when introducing a new product. Apple are no longer leading this category they are at best treading water with what is just a jumbo iPad that brings nothing new to the table apart from..oh yes a stylus which...yes you guessed it is 'revolutionary'. I have been an Apple user, I went through a few generations of iPhone until I felt they no longer led the market and moved on to Android and now I find myself in the same position with my now aging iPad 3rd Gen, I thought the replacement was sure to be another iPad, possibly the Pro if it was more than what it was but now I'm looking towards the Surface Pro 4 which although more expensive gives me the best of both worlds, a laptop if needed but a very capable tablet too running full apps and not just cut down mobile versions and with a stylus that has already been revised and refined by a company that had it as part of their hardware from the start and not just added it as a 'me too' addition following the herd.
