Report claims ad blocking will cost industry an estimated $21.8 billion in 2015

TechSpot: A report has found that the use of ad blockers has grown 41 percent in the past year and estimates it will cost the industry $21.8 billion globally in lost advertising revenue in 2015. It goes on to warn that the software now poses a significant threat to the future of free content on the web.

We've had this discussion before a gazillion times n the site- I'll say t again though- I understand web sites have to keep the lights, on not everyone can feasibly rely on a patreaon, amazon merchant links etc (nor should they have too). Sites I frequent - the adblock is kept off, its only ever on for sites I'm not familiar with.

Adblocking doesn't COST them a thing. We've had this discussion ad nauseum. Many sites have no problem embedding advertising and making millions.

You want to have annoying pop ups (I forgot they were a thing)?

Then why would I visit your site. Sell something and create a demand for it. That is how you make money.
