HTC dramatically slashes sales estimates, but it has a plan to get things back on track

Times are difficult for HTC, and following shareholder meetings last week, the company has officially revised the revenue it expects to gather over the second three-month period of 2015. Initially expecting to make between $1.48 billion and $1.64 billion, HTC now says the figure is more likely to be between $1.07 billion and $1.17 billion.

I can't say I'm surprised. I was certain I'd switch from Samsung to HTC this year but after watching both the reveal streams for the M9 and S6, it was a no brainer to pick the S6 going by my needs. HTC had a year to collect feedback and ultimately improve on the M8 yet what they revealed looked like something they spent slapping together in a month. More creativity went into their little videos lol. In contrast Samsung came out swinging for the fences and while some weren't happy with some of their design decisions, their edge device is an absolute beauty.

I like the conceptual direction the Edge suggests we are going, but I definitely didn't like some of the compromises made.

Just another case of consumer preference of form over function.

I'm with you on this. The last HTC phone I had was the Titan and I loved it. I would like to see HTC getting back to the days of the Titan and HD2 as well was some fresh designs like they did with the M8. For me I'm a Nokia fan at the moment as I have a 925 and love the design and the camera but I am due an upgrade soon and the edge is looking like the phone to buy for me at the moment but with Windows mobile 10 due out later on in the year I may wait a little longer to see what Microsoft bring and with HTC saying they are back in to push Windows mobile they could give us some nice fresh looks too. I do think the phone market has hit a stand still in terms of designs though. Although I do also like the new LG.

All they had to do was make a new EVO with a kickstand, removable battery, 2k display and snappy SenseUI, but instead the keep rehashing the same M# which was uninspired to begin with. Looks like LG is my new home.
