VRFocus - Back in April 2015 Los Angeles-based cloud rendering company OTOY partnered with Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) creator Oculus VR to announce a new competition named ‘Render the Metaverse’. The contest tasked VR developers with creating 360-degree scenes using the company’s Octanve VR and OctaneRender software. Today OTOY is launching the beta for OctaneRender Cloud, allowing those working on submissions for the contest to render their projects in the cloud for free.
Oculus doesn't report sales figures, but app downloads point to a huge holiday season.
The new feature comes as part of the Oculus v34 update.
Facebook says this is for developers, but no one is buying that.
