Silk Road was at one time the largest online drug market. It was founded by Ross Ulbricht and even though Ulbricht argues he didn't control the site from start-to-finish, he has been sentenced to two life terms in prison without parole. A US federal judge also ordered Ulbricht to forfeit $184 million--the amount of money Silk Road made before it was shut down.
Ulbricht has been convicted of trafficking drugs on the internet, conspiracy for narcotics trafficking, computer hacking, money laundering, and running a criminal enterprise.
