Study reveals why prolonged light exposure leads to weight gain

A study conducted by a combined team of researchers from Leiden University Medical Center and the Academic Medical Center, both in The Netherlands, has found the underlying cause of weight gain in mice exposed to a long periods of light. In their paper published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the team describes how they tested the food burning efficiency of mice exposed to different amounts of light over an extended period of time and what it revealed about weight gain.
