New technique to see the tiny invisible vibrations in buildings

For instance, when wind blows, large buildings appeared to be fixed in place. But this is not true.MIT researchers found that there will be small vibrations occur while wind blows on a building. This can be achieved by combining the high-speed video with computer vision techniques and thereby the video image gets reconstructed to magnify the vibrations at certain frequencies.Presently, engineers use accelerometers and laser vibrometry techniques, which are precise but expensive techniques, commonly used in infrastructure monitoring.

The story is too old to be commented.
