Amazon exec tells Fortune how it bumbled the launch of its first smartphone.

When it introduced the Fire smartphone in July, Amazon bet sales would be something worth bragging about. But three months in, it’s obvious the Fire phone is more dud than runaway success.

it's a terrible smartphone with nothing to separate itself from the crowd. well, except that gimmicky 3d thing.
i swear...I don't know why amazon feels like it has to be involved in every or so market it can get its hands on.

amazon sadly wants to make a leap in the right direction, but it's just quick and in a crowded market like this you can't make users leave thier eco-system and join amazon system, amazon needs to ofer these devices for very cheap price and tie its users to its eco system, like contract mobile phones where the point is that you cover the handset cost by spending your money somewhere else like calls, suprising bills jajaja ;) , etc

Locking to one carrier also dwindle the chances of selling more of this device, Amazon.

These should've taken a note from Facebook with the HTC First.
