NASA launched the Cassini-Huygens robotic spacecraft back in 1997 in the hopes of learning more about Saturn and its ring system. After a long voyage of seven years, the spacecraft finally reached the planet and entered its orbit on July 2004. Now, more than 10 years later, the missions is still ongoing with the Huygens probe currently exploring the surface of Titan and the Cassini orbiter analyzing Saturn’s rings and sending the information back home. NASA managed to learn a lot over the years thanks to this mission and were kind enough to share their findings with the rest of us.
The supermassive black hole is 40 million times as massive as the sun and powers a quasar that existed 700 million years after the Big Bang.
The asteroid zoomed by Earth at a perfectly safe distance of around 1.8 million miles (2.9 kilometers).
Images show surprise changes to the spacecraft as it interacted with the atmosphere.
