Samsung's smartphone struggle may only get worse

"Fitch Ratings, a major credit rating agency in the US, shared negative sentiment Tuesday on Samsung's chances in the smartphone market over the next year. Nitin Soni, director of corporate rating at Fitch, predicted that Samsung's worldwide smartphone market share will fall from 31 percent this year to 25 percent in 2015" (Hi-tech, Phone, Phones, Smartphone)

They should stop ripping their customers off -- look at the Galaxy Alpha. It's essentially a stripped down S5 in a metal body.

The top brands are just way too expensive, and for half the price you can buy a China phone that's at least as powerful and reliable. Just ordered a One+ One this week (go check out the review if you've never heard of it: very positive), but the new Xiaomi is already reported as being even more powerful and to have a better camera, and Meizu is also releasing their new flagship killer phone in the near future.

China has pretty much overlapped the top brands, in terms of value-for-money, so Samsung and the others either have to raise their game, in terms of design, support, build quality, or they just need to go down with their prices to more acceptable levels.

The OnePlus One is brilliant, and it's a complete bargain if you can get your hands on one. Completely agree!

believe it or not i still have a samsung galaxy s2 and its most goddamn reliable thing ive ever owned.before i got that i had wasted 3 phones in a single year. and i now its almost 4 years old and ive never one had to take it the service center once.
also ive bought 4 other phones since then and none have lasted.even the newer galaxies are crap.

my problem with samsung is, they want to be top dogs and release high end phones but why not make it metal or atleast polycarbonate and why dnt you create you own charger port instead of crappy usb that always goes bad. apple make glass and metal phones that are beautifuly crafted and they have there very own charger port that is near impossible to destroy.

Pay attention. These analysts are predicting a drop in market share (though the overall market is growing.) Samsung's stock will drop.

This time next year (bookmark this if you don't believe me), Samsung will announce better than predicted sales and either maintain their 31 percent or watch it grow.

And even if it does drop it doesn't mean sales won't be above predictions.

These analysts will then reap disgusting profits off their sale of Samsung next year while they lap up the cheaper stock as a result of their analysis.

And since Samsung is so high in price, anyway, the stock may even split.

Samsung need to revise the pricing of their handsets in developing markets like India and China or else the local brands are going to it their market share before they realize it.

Too many different Variations, they need to cut down and stick to the Note line and S line, also make a budget phone for that market. All these different variations is stupid

I'm not bothered still gonna hang on to my Note 3 for at least for another 2 years or so anyways.
