I'm not sure what you mean. Did you lookup how to do something in windows 8? if theres something like control panel or any kind of settings, you can pin them. The updates for 8.1 is more user friendly to those who were confused with 8. However, I think you've heard this before, you can use a third party software like start8 or classicshell so that the experience is exactly like 7, just keep in mind, metro is NOT manditory to use. You can go on without any metro apps. Other than that, windows 8.1 should be fine.

You do not need third party apps, but since you aren’t used to the way to get to what you need and the third party app help those who aren’t able to adapt easily to the operating system. There’s many people who can do just fine so windows 8 which is proof of the fact that it isn’t limiting, hiding, or taking away features. You are just too used to the old way to get to things for years that when something changes, it would be strange to you. Since you don’t understand it, you would blame it on the OS and not on yourself for not studying it. I'm not bashing at you but you should consider if its maybe you that’s limiting yourself by not looking up a solution and instead spreading the problem. Just google your issues. I still haven’t heard a specific example of what you can’t do. Give me an example and I'll tell you how to get to it.
