A new tool released by the Open Rights Group today reveals that 20% of the 100,000 most-visited websites on the Internet are blocked by the parental filters of UK ISPs. With the newly launched website the group makes it easier to expose false positives and show that the blocking efforts ban many legitimate sites, TorrentFreak included.

Glad to live in the Northern United States!

Not as if this stuff doesn't crop in from time to time in congress but it always gets shot down do to our amendments!

Look what happed to SOPA, just about every big US company was against it "with the exception of the companies bought-out and or Hollywood" the US is one of the only places to have a lack of censorship compared to other countries like Australia, UK, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Turkmenistan...

None of these countries handled the Internet very well since it's inception, the US on the other hand has been prepared for almost 300 years with the bill of rights!

Well most countries aren't stupid enough to even consider wasting time on something like SOPA or PIPA in the first place.. There are most likely 20 countries just in Europe with similar or better censorship/surveillance situations compared to yours.

USA has no more internet freedom than most European countries. It was below Germany, Estonia and Iceland in the Freedom house study, and just above France, Italy and the U.K.

Nothing particularly special about that.

KwietStorm1257d ago

How do you measure Internet freedom?

SilentNegotiator1257d ago (Edited 1257d ago )

In squared freedom units.

awiseman1257d ago (Edited 1257d ago )

Try searching free download on google. Try posting a news story that makes the government look bad on a major social network site and see what happens. We don't have any internet freedom.

And comparing the USA with totalitarian regimes like Arab nations and Communist states isn't fair either. Would be more realistic to compare to New Zealand.

"Look what happed to SOPA"

And then the Obama administration goes behind Congress' back and signs agreements (ACTA) with other countries anyway.
