Twitter Removes Users "Pirated" World Cup Avatars

Twitter has removed the profile pictures of several of its users after the company received a takedown notice from World Cup organizer FIFA. The football organization forbids the use of any of its official logos and emblems on social media, including pictures of the World Cup trophy.

For starters. Eff FIFA and their holier than thou BS. I'm no soccer fan by any stretch of the imagination but if they're going to act like that then maybe the fans should turn their attention somewhere else. Bunch of jerks at FIFA.

I meant to say that if I put a picture of the World Cup trophy as my profile pic on WhatsApp, then do FIFA also have plans in place for taking that down ?

Not really. WhatsApp is an IM service. The whole point I figure is to crack down on fake FB and Twitter accounts to avoid false information from being spread. I doubt you could have any real profound effect with WhatsApp. You'd have to know a lot of phone numbers off hand. xD
