This week, the world's nations gather to discuss the influence the US wields over the internet and in particular ICANN-the web's logistical core. But who, exactly, should have the keys to the internet?
In my opinion "It's fine as it is" what you say ??
Considering the US Supreme Court just ruled that ISPs can charge whatever they want for different types of traffic, and then Netflix saw a 65% reduction in their speed on Comcast networks until they were forced to pay Comcast to get better bandwidth (now Verizon is saying they want to do the same), I'd say no. We have no more net neutrality, which is required for the internet to prosper.
Definitely not lobbyists corporate greed or hidden agendas. Look at what happened when ISP's became deregulated. I'd imagine things would turn out a lot more different than what they are ten years form now.
No one should own or control the internet. really!
I'm going to say a ruthless dictator like Hitler. Things should be work out nicely. Or Google? That would be nice. Or we could have people promote themselves like a politician and we vote for them. First real step to a new world order :)
How about nobody? Why can't ICANN simply remain a politically-neutral non-profit entity dedicated to ensuring maximisation of network stability and organisational effectiveness? As much as the authoritarians in Beijing and Moscow want to get their hands over the world internet nucleus, I doubt an independent ICANN would ever opt to relocate to fall under their laws.
Me. Your all banned.
Me. Cheese for everyone!!
Samuel L. Jackson
Al Gore, he created it right?
No one. Not Facebook, not Google, not Twitter, not Apple, not Obama, not The Queen, not Kony, not Kim Jong Un - NO ONE!
Definitely not the fucking government, in any country!!
