Sun Will 'Flip Upside Down' Within Weeks, Says Nasa

Independent:

The sun is set to “flip upside down” within weeks as its magnetic field reverses polarity in an event that will send ripple effects throughout the solar system.

Although it may sound like a catastrophic occurrence, there’s no need to run for cover. The sun switches its polarity, flipping its magnetic north and south, once every eleven years through an internal mechanism about which little is understood.

The swap could however cause intergalactic weather fronts such as geomagnetic storms, which can interfere with satellites and cause radio blackouts.

I wish they would make their mind up. First it was fake made up conspiricy talk, then it happeneds as often as every 6 years & now it's 11 years. Well at least they've agreed it's going to happen now anyway.

Meh. It's potential (and probably inevitable) geomagnetic reversal on earth that might pose problems.

SilentNegotiator3777d ago

Wait, I'm confused. This happens every 11 years and people think it might reverse the earth's poles THIS time? Why?

ProjectVulcan3776d ago (Edited 3776d ago )

I don't know. I'm unsure why you thought my post linked the two events directly when I didn't suggest it.

All my post pointed out was that MEH. This happens a lot and you shouldn't worry.

What you might worry about is if it happens to Earth. Mainly because that could cause problems. Geomagnetic reversal is a subject under study, and there is much debate over how, when, how fast and how long it can occur and how it might affect the biosphere.

I think I read "on" as "of" in your comment. IDK.

Please Nasa there some be some fumes escaping into your air supply. First scientist say the moon broke off the earth. Then after significant studies of the moon material properties. They find that's not the case. Now they come up with string theory, and find that doesn't hold true. Because a young Chinese student comes up with the dark matter theory. Which is more relevant than string theory. They over look his ideas and plagiarize his work. He in turn very tragically takes their lives, and then his own. A theory is to create a guess or hunch. A guess nevertheless. I do believe if this does happen. It does not convey a potential disaster.

wannabe gamer3778d ago

the movie you are referring to is loosely based on these events, and i do mean loosely http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... guy was mad he didnt win an award and get a job so he killed 5 people and himself, thats it no stolen ideas or anything

SynestheticRoar3778d ago

Still over looked his ideas, and now other scientist are picking up on his dark matter theory. Now have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

IT would be more scary if the Earth flipped upside down... #Dealwithit

MajorGecko3777d ago

Australians would be bouncin off the walls

WHOS UPSIDE DOWN NOW!!!!

SilentNegotiator3777d ago

Please. We'll just reverse all of the little compasses on the maps and pretend like this never happened.

You will ALWAYS be on the bottom, Aussies!

Bodge3777d ago

Our lives won't be flipped turned upside down.

FriedGoat3777d ago

You should take a minute, just sit right there.

I'll tell ya how we became apart of the wrong hemisphere.
