Maximum PC: Reviewing an update to an operating system feels a little odd, doesn’t it? After all, if you already use Windows 8, it’s not like you’re not going to install Windows 8.1. Sure, there’s always the threat of compatibility issues, but Microsoft seems to have this one covered pretty well with the website (and scanning tool) that it’s dedicated to the Windows 8.1 update.
The cloud storage platform will drop support for older versions of Windows in early 2022.
Microsoft just confirmed that Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems won’t get any new updates for AMD Ryzen and Intel 7th Gen processors.
thats fine with me as long as windows 10 and linux distros support ryzen, i'll have no complaints
Microsoft is tweaking its support cut-off dates again for Intel Skylake-based devices so that users can continue to get security updates until Microsoft's original end-of-support dates.
It's definitely an improvement over Windows 8, though I doubt there's enough to convert the anti-Win8 crowd.
I feel like my PC was faster with Windows 8. And I don't know if something happened during the installation but now when I'm going to do a defragmenter, 2 new disks (?volume) with a bunch of weird numbers appeared and I have no idea what they are.
