Is there life on Mars?

The Web Graffiti: "Have you ever wondered, apart from good old Earth, if there is life (as we know it: Humans, animals, insect, plants) elsewhere in our universe?

Well, I have. However, so far, we have nothing concrete on the whole thing, except recently, of course. What do you know? Concrete it was: if I may say so."

Source.. Fox News :3 Thats cute. The guys ignorance towards what "Life" is was pretty funny too. Has no idea what he's talking about, what is this doing on here?!

@bdtrickz1 Barely any money is spent on nasa in the budget, like not even a fraction. In fact it's combined budget since it's founding doesn't come anywhere NEAR what the US spend on military on a yearly basis. In FACT, if you were to take the US militarys yearly budget for the year, you could feed the third world for a year, or abolish the majority of world debt. What Nasa are doing is beneificial to us as a species in the long run, and they are doing it on a tiny budget. Now tell me, what are the US gov doing for the betterment of man spending that much money on Military?

This image might help put things in perspective a little.

and this is a problem? i dont think we are threatended by the moon so i would rather spend money on military than exploring a giant rock that we have already explored deemed to be just that.

bigrob9043880d ago

so i guess you are missing all the benefits that come with exploring the universe. maybe you need to look up all the possible benefits.

Ogygian3880d ago

OR

We try and reduce the world population growth.
No point funding unsustainable, irresponsible population growth, which is ruining the environment.

and how do you tell people they cant have children but also allow them freedom at the sametime. unless the world goes backwards this isnt going to happen

@bdtrickz1

Please educate yourself prior to making baseless statements. NASA and sapce technologies have helped usher in new technologies that you take for granted every day. The very computers that you are using to discuss how much of a waste of money this would be uses integrated circuits that were refined through NASA programs.

Additionally, every dollar that NASA spends returns approximately $1.47 in technological and economic benefits (way more than most programs you would see money go to by the way).

And for those who think that NASA's budget would be better spend on other endeavors like education...here is a news flash for you...

The current NASA budget is a whopping 17.7 billion dollars, which sounds like a lot to your average Joe, but is about 0.001% of the national budget. Still think this is a lot, lets say we scrap NASA and give the money to the education in the United states?? The US spends approximately 900 BILLION DOLLARS in 2013 (Dept. of Education budget by itself was 109 BILLION). So out of almost a trillion dollars what difference would the NASA budget make? NONE! The United States already spends more money than any other country in the world on education and we lag very far behind others...

So it's easy to see why NASA, science, and exploration are actually an important pillar of society, growth, and progress. It's just a little sad that most people (and the younger generation) don't see the connection between evolving science and things like finding ways to feed hungry people as you put it.
