Maximum PC: For the last three years, there have been questions about what the spectacular rise of the iPad and other tablet computers means for the traditional desktop PC. Are tablet sales cannibalizing PC sales (the “post-PC” worldview), or is this simply a new category that people are buying alongside traditional computers? Will the tablet remain a third device, between a smartphone and a PC, or will it gradually take over the role that’s currently played by laptop and desktop computers? With the release of the Surface Pro, Microsoft isn’t making these questions any easier to answer.

Microsoft has officially announced the brand new Surface Pro 7 and interested customers can now pre-order the device.
Microsoft is in a bit of a unique place in the PC space compared to other manufacturers. Other than Apple, Microsoft is the only company that controls both the hardware and software sides, and when the Surface lineup launched way back in 2012, Microsoft’s goal was to showcase the advantages of their platform with a premium hardware lineup. On October 2nd 2018, the company unveiled their sixth iteration of what is now a staple in the PC space, the Surface Pro 6.

ummm not for me
I have a Samsung Slate. Runs Windows 7, and runs wacom drivers for the pen input. I run Photoshop, Zbrush, Maya, and 3DS Max on it. It was a bit pricey, but I think it sure blows the Microsoft Surface out of the water.
