NRM: "In 1987, Steve Wilhite created the GIF (or Graphics Interchange Format). Sixteen years later, he accepted a lifetime achievement award at The Webby Awards, using a GIF for his acceptance speech to confirm, once and for all, that it's pronounced "JIF.""
Bits blog from The New York Times reports- Among the thousands of file formats that exist in modern computing, the GIF, or Graphics Interchange Format, has attained celebrity status in a sea of lesser-known BMPs, RIPs, FIGs and MIFFs. It was honored as a “word of the year” in 2012, and Tuesday night, its inventor, Steve Wilhite, will be accepting a lifetime achievement award at The Webby Awards.
actually it's pronounced DIF. that's how ridiculous calling it JIF is. GIF pronunciation all the way
Does it really matter at this point. Everyone knows what you're talking about regardless of how it's pronounced. And if they don't know what you're talking about, they never will.
Yeah.. It's just funny when someone says GIF, not JIF.. Plus, it's so crazy these days, that people don't only write it.. They say it too..
