BlueStacks takes on OUYA with Android-powered GamePop game console

Engadget - So you want a console for free, eh? BlueStacks is apparently prepared to offer you just that in its GamePop game console, which costs nothing for the month of May with a one-year subscription to the service (wouldn't you know it, that costs $93.83 -- just below the price of an OUYA at retail). Like its counterparts, the GamePop is powered by Android (4.2) and runs mostly mobile games. The company isn't sharing specs just yet, sadly. BlueStacks is promising "over 500" games, and has some top mobile devs offering credence with in testimonial.

The Verge: This winter, a new console called the GamePop will allow you to play your favorite Android games on your high-definition television. But that’s not all you’ll be able to play. Creator Bluestacks has today announced that the GamePop will also run iOS games on Android, and a number of big iOS developers have already signed up to support it.

I'm not sure why Google needs to spend $1Billion on Waze. A BILLION DOLLARS? Wow! I could see Apple spending a few million to replace their maps, but A BILLION?

BlueStacks’ GamePop Android Game Console Adds $50 of Free Games as Kicker

HotHardware: BlueStacks already has a pretty intriguing deal for people interested in its GamePop Android game console -- sign up for a monthly subscription by the end of June and you'll receive the console and a controller for free -- and it just got a little sweeter. In addition to giving the hardware away from free for a limited time (you do have to pay shipping), BlueStacks announced that it will also include a collection of games from three AAA developers that would normally cost $50 on Google Play.
