Fighting Sexism With Blind Panic – A World Gone Mad

PSLS: While sexism was stronger a few generations ago, there remain a large number of issues that need to addressed, as well as new ones that have arisen. The tech and games industry are still particularly dominated by males, causing a number of women to feel discriminated against. (Culture, Gaming, Industry)

Im glad she got fired too. I hope the dude she got fired sues the crap out of her. She has no sense of humor and she had no buisness posting his photo up on her blog to condemn the man on a joke she was never even a part of.

Civil rights leaders have gone insane because they have so few genuine issues to tackle. Now they have to make mountains out of mole hills and/or invent issues to stay relevant.

Like "reverend" Jesse Jackson. He defends murders like the Jena Six, justifying their actions and claiming that their convictions of attempted murder was "racist". On national television, he whispered (audibly) to someone that he wanted to "cut Obama's nuts off", asserting that Obama wasn't 'black enough'. And this is THE TOP AFRICAN AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER IN AMERICA. It's disgusting. He brings shame to his mentor, the great Martin Luther King Jr.

And somehow it's sexist of the men that women aren't as involved in the game industry.

Truth is most women dont like playing video games. Really doesnt have a damn thing to do with the industry. Women grow up with different values and goals. Its hot when u find a woman that will pick up a controller and chill with you on the couch, or even a chick that watches anime. But lets face it.. tehre arent that many. Not because they get bullied out of it. Its cause they just dont give a crap about that stuff.

I'm glad she was fired. I'm all for equality, and the path she took to 'resolve' this issue is just as bad as them making dongle jokes. I'm not saying she is a feminist, but I've never supported the feminist movement because it's pretty much exactly the same thing they're fighting against to begin with. She could have easily reported the issue to Pycon's managers and had everything resolved behind closed doors. The guys may have still lost their jobs given how their company takes equality seriously, and it would have set a standard any how you took it. Taking the fight to the Internet pretty much takes the fight out of your hands because you don't know in which direction it could go and in this case, it clearly slapped her right in the face.

Edit - Pretty safe to say she is a hypocrite because she herself has made a number of sexist jokes via Twitter before this whole incident.
