Best Type of Hard Drive for Gaming This 2013

whatswithjeff.com: "When it comes to gaming, there is one thing that a gamer needs – a fast gaming PC or system. And to achieve that, every hardware installed in the PC must be fast or at least in “harmony” or has the same “fastness” with the other components. Many of us thought that a hard drive does not contribute to the overall performance, speed and user experience when it comes to gaming, but the truth is, it does. Find out below what are the best type of hard drives for a gaming PC this 2013." (PC, PC hardware)

I have 2 640Gb Raptors in RAID 0, and they are decently fast. Next build, I will go SSD all the way though, as these still don't get random read and write anywhere near SSD's

SSD's are really great, not just in terms of speed but in reading and writing as well. But they are expensive, perhaps in the near future price/GB will go down further for SSD drives

My father does enterprise drive Qual for Dell, and according to him, the 4-8 year road map for SSD's doesn't look to good. He said that with current NAND design, materials alone will never allow SSD's to compete with hard drives on a $$/Gb. Instead, he believes that hybrid drives will become popular in that time. He has been doing this for the last 20 years too, so i trust his intuition on the topic.

been skipping the SSDs. Very happy I did because they seem to be getting better and cheaper.
