PlayStation 4 Announced, Packs 8-Core AMD 'Jaguar' CPU

Maximum PC: "Today’s PlayStation Meeting 2013 event at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom was, as expected, all about the future of Sony’s home console franchise. While the company did make the long-overdue Playstation 4 official, it somehow managed to wrap up the two-hour event — during which it outlined the console’s specs, detailed key features and showcased a raft of games — without giving attendees a glimpse of the actual console. To be honest, though, what it can do matters more than the way it looks. So what exactly can it do?" (AMD, Gaming, PlayStation 4, Sony)

The guys over at N4G are having a field day regarding the PS4. I honestly did not expect such a potent reaction from pc gamers.

i wonder if the blu ray drive will be limited to 50gbs. It would be good if they made it with more capacity. But it certainly needs the drive, since a harddrive alone isn't the best solution for those of you think physical media is no longer necessary.

What about cloud computing in conjunction with hard drive. Meaning using the hard drive to download and store games, movies, music, etc.. Then use the cloud computing for dlc, demos, game/movie trailers, cloud saves for games. See no more need for physical media.

I'm wondering about that too. I'm guessing that Sony will make use of BDXL. I hope this is true, especially since 4K tech is already being sold. (in China) 4K might sound like overkill right now, but so was the bluray/hd-dvd when they first debuted.

Is it 6x 8x or 8x locked to 6x, I'm not sure which it is?
