This things seems completely unnecessary.

For some they might, but for PC gamers and die hard PC enthusiasts, yes they are. ^_^
But it's just too expensive right now =(

Really? I'm a PC gamer and I certainly don't need a card with 6GB RAM.

There are better alternatives for folks at the current price point. As a single card, the Titan is undeniably the fastest and most power efficient card out at this point, but a couple of crossfire 7970's are actually going to perform better than a single Titan for about 200 bucks less.

Don't stand in the way of progress.

18 months from now everyone will be buying Titan level performance cards in the mainstream. This is step one for the next level of performance, as always.

New consoles also ensure that the fidelity of games takes a jump as devs aim a lot higher.

These advancements lead to what ends up in your consoles.

Meh, My 7950 handles all of my games fine right now at 1200p.

impressive that a single GPU card can rival a 690

Eyesoftheraven4073d ago (Edited 4073d ago )

Impressive and exciting, but also the nature of the beast and nothing new. Both the 7970 and 680 at stock speeds are at least always neck-and-neck with the 6970 or 590 duel GPUs. Just like the future single GTX880 will be neck and neck or just behind the future GTX790 dual GPU.
