Gabe Newell: Steam Box's biggest threat isn't consoles, it's Apple

Polygon: The biggest danger facing the success of Steam Box or any other PC ecosystem hoping to find space in the living room is Apple, according to a lecture given by Valve co-founder Gabe Newell to a class at the University of Texas' LBJ School of Public Affairs.

The story is too old to be commented.

Will Apple start making hard-core games though? Doubt it.

Guys, while the past is a nice comparative, the present is more telling. Apple is arguably the most valuable company right now. I have outlandishly stated how Apple could BUY a large chunk of the gaming industry if they wanted, also with board/investor approval I'd gather.

Apple is a threat to any industry that it's in, in the sense that they are now the new MS, greedy, volatile and strict.

Knowing apple they'd probably force more proprietary formats onto the end users.
