Telegraph - The service will expand on Sky's popular Sky Go, which allows users to stream content based on their Sky subscription.
For £5 per month, Sky will allow up to four users to download on-demand movies and TV, including exclusive content such as the hit series Girls and the entire James Bond catalogue. Each download will last for a month, but users will be free to download as much as their device can hold. For some, this could mean up to 80 films or 400 TV programmes.
Quietly mentioned inside Sky's financial report for this quarter, the broadcaster has revealed that two of its streaming services will arrive on the PlayStation 4 in just a few months. Details are scant (it just says what we've written above), but both Sky Go (for existing Sky subscribers) and the more free-and-loose Now TV will both debut on the Sony console. They'll have a fight on their hands: they'll be up against the likes of Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. Sky also announced that it's renewed its movie deal with Paramount, giving it exclusive broadcast rights to the likes of Anchorman 2 and Noah. So, not even a mention of the Xbox One -- but at least that console's doing its own thing.
Sky has launched a new interactive hashtag on Twitter. The new tool will be used by Sky to group tweets on upcoming sporting events and movies using the hashtag #WatchOnSky letting you see a stream of shows you might be interested in watching or recording on your Sky+ box for later viewing.
If you see a show you like, you can expand the tweet to reveal options to Watch now via Sky Go, or Record sending a command to your Sky+ box to record the show – assuming you have these services configured in advance.
I thought it would be like the programs I see at some bars/and clubs that display live tweets/instagrams on screens and stuff.
No I think that will still work for program specific hashtags e.g. #gameofthrones etc. but this is for a stream of shows you can find and watch/record.
Engadget - With the grand total of supported phones and tablets sitting at 25, Sky's Go is hardly the most widely supported streaming video platform. But the British broadcaster isn't just resting on its laurels. With today's update the number of officially supported devices more than doubled adding 14 slates and handsets to its existing list of 11.
