Google Didn't Kill a Donkey, It Just Looked That Way

Maximum PC: Everyone knows what happens when you assume things, and admittedly, Street View pictures in the Kweneng region of Botswana showing a donkey sprawled across the road amid a puff of dust looked bad. Like, really bad. At a glance, it appeared Google ran over and killed the wandering donkey in its continued quest to photograph the planet, an innocent victim in the wrong place at precisely the right time. But guess what? The donkey's alive. (Culture, Google, Google Street View)

This might be the most famous donkey on the Internet right now.

You do something as creepy as photograph every street on the planet, you're bound to kill a donkey or create a photo that looks like you did. That's just science.

Wut?

The donkey was sleeping in the middle of the road before they drove up, but it appeared as if they killed it by running into it or something.

It was an obvious joke. I said that it's "just science" that you would run over a donkey or make a picture that looks like it.

How could people NOT register that as a joke?

Welp, guess I need to take my own advice: ALWAYS use "/s" when being facetious. Even when it's completely and utterly obvious.

Well, we've all seen quite a few questionable images on Google Maps... e.g. people having sex, dead bodies, a guy taking a piss, etc. It might not have been as obvious to the rest of us given how many disagrees you got.
