Sony stops shipping PlayStation 2 in Japan nearly 13 years after launch

The Verge - Sony will no longer ship the PlayStation 2 to Japanese retailers, according to Famitsu. At over 150 million units sold worldwide since its launch in Japan on March 4th, 2000, the PS2 is the most popular home console of all time by some distance, and has demonstrated impressive staying power. The PlayStation 2 was launch in Japan on March 4, 2000. Its about to be January 1, 2013, so, its been nearly 13 years. 13, if they waited 3 more months, but I guess 13 is a bad number for some.

Such a good system. Still hoping on a few games to get either the HD treatment or just a collection.
