Games Industry International - The Wii U has had a strong opening weekend in Japan, selling 308,570 units - according to Famitsu and Enterbrain.
Starting today, Rhapsodyβs personalized music experience is available to Wii U owners via a free app from the Nintendo eShop. Rhapsody subscribers with Wii U systems can begin listening immediately and Wii U owners who arenβt yet Rhapsody or Napster subscribers can sign up for a 30-day free trial.
Techspot: Nintendo is shutting down TVii, its second-screen video service for the Wii U, less than three years after it began. The company said the feature would βtransform how people find, watch and engage with TV shows, movies and sportsβ, but it gained few fans among console owners.

I never really bought into the whole motion-control fad. the Wii was cool and so was Kinect. Nothing ground breaking. Its been around since the days of the NES.
It was always going to perform well at launch, i wonder how it'll do after the Launch hype has settled in.
still nowhere near the hype or craze of the wii.
Um didnt the vita sell a similar number over its launch weekend in japan, yet everyone was was saying itwas doomed even then... personally i think those sales are decent but just wanted to make the point...
