Anandtech: When Nintendo announced the Wii U there was a lot of interest in its hardware specs. The new console could very well end up the fastest kid on the block thanks to the sheer age of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I wasn't all that interested in the Wii U, but I did want to get a look at the silicon inside so I grabbed a unit and went into teardown mode.
Now, back to Wii U. A system with a GPU slightly more potent than the ps3/360, a weaker CPU (according to Tecmo), and larger but slower RAM.
In 2012.
Every time a new console (ie, PS3 & 360) debuts, many people hit the forums saying that the specs are ahead of the curve. They were not. Are not. And never will be.
Look at Black Ops II on PC, now compare to the console versions, you'd think the PC would destroy a 6yr old console in visual effects and everything but it doesn't. People keep shouting PS4/360 is gonna blow away the Wii U but who cares when company's will port to all 3.
Check Max Payne 3, Sleeping Dogs and Crysis 2 for much improved graphics over the console versions. The devs for those games took the time to specifically work on the PC version.
