Apple awarded patent rights for original iOS Maps app GUI

so basically its google maps with the bells and whistles without having to into a menu. riiight.

guess now we wait for samsung vs apple: part 2 - Maps edition. where samsung loses the case in court and will have to pay another billion, only to find out 3 months later the patent shouldnt have been granted. yip, sounds about right.

another apple patent that granted
http://forums.appleinsider....

what this is, take a nokia 7650 <any symbian phone> or if you want, your android 2.2 device (maybe earlier though i haven't tried> hold the home button. now instead of icons like what you seeing, apple are giving you a preview of each app. and thats what they patented.

they took an existing idea, made it better. sounds familiar? samsung took their existing idea, made it better got sued in USA. totally fair.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is the biggest joke in tech.

Seems like apple is thriving on others original effort while their refinements are patented.

That's not how it should work >_<
Is the patent office being run by people so jaded that they just don't care anymore?

At least Google isn't sitting on their laurels in regards to global mapping & GPS.

If I owned Apple shares, I would be selling my stock about now. Heck yea they made a killing, but it's clear that they are no longer about innovation and just want to profit off patents. I am pretty sure there are problems brewing on the executive level given the recent resignations.

I feel Apple is on the decline and I can't help thinking its since the death of Jobs.
