Valve: Linux More Viable Than Windows 8 for Gaming

Ubuntu Vibes: In a presentation at Ubuntu Developer Summit currently going on in Denmark, Drew Bliss from Valve said that Linux is becoming more viable platform as an alternative to Windows 8. Windows 8 ships with its own app store and it is moving away from an open platform model. (Gaming, Linux, Software, Ubuntu, Valve, Windows 8)

WHAT? thats like saying linux is more viable for gaming than windows 7 since 8 is just basicly a gui change. Performance benchmarks in gaming show no loss in windows 8.

With all the anti microsoft reteric from valve lately, even though its their main market, it sounds like they want to abandon microsoft all together.

And yet Valve never gives good reasons since they now support Apple. So why is Windows 8 so bad for them compared to working on Mac operating systems?

im a linux fan, been using it for a while now but as much as i want this to be true, coming from the same company that said the ps3 was a huge mistake and sony should cancel it and start over, its hard to believe.

I think they are worried that Windows 9 might only allow you to install what you buy or get from the Windows Store only etc...

I think about the kids who use phones more than PCs, they have never installed, configure etc... any app, they will grow up thinking it is the norm, and company have the right to lock their OS for protection from viruses or whatever lie they will come up with.

I might be wrong, but nothing wrong can come from this.
Linux needs more users to became a true alternative to Microsoft and Apple to the average consumer .
