Hackers say they’ve found Amanda Todd’s tormentor

thestar.com: A group of hackers say they have tracked down a man they say is Amanda Todd’s tormenter.

The “hacktivists” are part of the group Anonymous and say they have found a man in his early 30s from New Westminster, B.C., who allegedly blackmailed the 15-year-old girl for pictures over the Internet. (Anonymous, Culture, Internet, Web)

Do more of this and people won't fucking hate you Anonymous.

anonymous have done quite a lot of good since their alliance with wikileaks

What about when they took down those horrible "children" sites and then invited the FBI and Interpol to have the names of the frequent visitors? I believe they put their skills to good use more than you realize. You rarely hear the good they do because others are trying to focus on the "bad".

You act like Anon is one universal group all following the same goal. It's more similar to a community than a group in which that saying "I hate Anonymous for hacking PSN" is like saying "I hate Christians for being intolerant" yes it may apply to some but not to all. Everything Anonymous does I'm sure there are members who affiliate themselves with Anonymous that disagree with what is happening.

Most people love them, just sayin!

Finally these half wits are doing something useful with their lives.
LightofDarkness  +   217d ago
I don't think "half-wits" is a suitable description for people with clearly exceptional investigatory and computing/networking skills. There's no evidence linking them to others who've assumed the anonymous mantle either, they've just stated that they too are "anonymous", i.e. unnamed.

"who allegedly blackmailed the 15-year-old girl for pictures over the Internet."

Are they sure its the guy? I would hate for these hackers to go after someone who's innocent and had nothing to do with that.

I never was against Anonymous in fact i support them for all they do. Like someone said above Anonymous has done a lot of good but media and people only seem to focus on the bad. Anonymous is doing what hackers should really do and fight for the people and help because sometimes it takes breaking the law to find that criminal or person doing wrong.

"The “hacktivists” are part of the group Anonymous" bullcrap... everybody and their brother claims they are a part of anonymous... that is like saying you are a part of the human race.

Their is no single entity known as Anonymous... it has become a tagline for everyone to claim some greater cause for their activities.

I am going to call myself Anonymous and thus I am now Anonymous... all wanna be's who weren't allowed in any other group so they join an imaginary clan. ha
LightofDarkness  +   217d ago
Well... that's the idea. They're no pretending to be a group, it's akin to the Alan Smithee pseudonym for directors who don't want their name attached to a work. It's just the de facto means of obscuring the identities of those involved in questionable cyber activity.

People need to stop looking at Anonymous like it's a purposed group, it's just an idea. You are just stating that you are "ANONYMOUS", i.e. unnamed.
Legion  +   217d ago
Except the vast majority of people that say they are Anonymous really think they are claiming to be in some special group.

This is not V for Vendetta, this is not an Alan Smythee pseudonym.... people really think they are a part of some special cause.

And people who threaten and then promote they are anonymous end up talking against the wrong person and finding out they aren't so Anonymous after all.

THOSe people make me laugh....
Bil  +   217d ago
just wondering is this man really the "one" as Anonymous is claiming....
