Intel Responds to 'Unsubstantiated' Reports of CEO's Anti-Windows 8 Remarks

Maximum PC: "Together Microsoft and Intel have ruled the PC industry for a ridiculously long time, but with smartphone and tablet sales going through the roof, they now have a lot to think about. While both parties don’t seem entirely averse to venturing out of their longstanding relationship, Intel’s Android-compatible Medfield SoC and Microsoft’s ARM-friendly Windows RT OS seem little more than half-hearted attempts at being unfaithful. On Wednesday, however, a report that Intel CEO Paul Otellini had been heard criticizing Windows 8 in a recently held company meeting in Taiwan painted a slightly different picture."

I'm sticking with Windows 7 until service pack one...

Ok so today I was at a MS event for Windows 8 and Server 2012. This was my first time ever using Windows 8 and I can't honestly say that I'm not at all disappointed with it. Sure the interface feels more like a tablet/handheld style OS and it's going to take some people some time to get used to the fact that the "Metro" (Ya - MS dropped that moniker but I'm taking it back)that basically the home screen is a side scrolling start menu I think they're going to be really pleased with it. And it's fast. DAMN fast. Install took about 15 minutes-ish and it was ready to roll. Reboots were practically done in the blink of an eye.

Hell even installing the full version of Windows Server 2012 Datacenter edition was a mere 15 minutes long.

As a sys admin, I'm more excited about what MS has to offer than I have been in a long while.

the only thing that's making me stay on the windows platform is Steam, as soon as steam releases Steam for linux with a decent game compatibility rate i'm gone.

Well I was all against Windows 8 and kinda still am, but I just recently installed it and I've gotten so much more used to it. But the new Start screen is still annoying and takes a couple more clicks to shut down. Gaming too is slightly better, I tried BF3 and runs pretty damn smooth.
