Fear can be erased from the brain

UU - Newly formed emotional memories can be erased from the human brain. This is shown by researchers from Uppsala University in a new study now being published by the academic journal Science. The findings may represent a breakthrough in research on memory and fear. (Culture)

I think a healthy amount of fear is good for you, I mean how boring would driving a car fast or riding a roller-coaster without that tinge of fear.

They're talking about recent, emotional, memories. Not fear as a whole.

AKA Rape or witnessing a horrific murder. Things which would leave you mentally and emotionally damaged for the rest of your life while the criminal gets a measly slap on the wrist and is allowed to walk free just to do it again.

"Erasing" memories doesn't sound like a good idea.

Even with a lot of recent trauma. This world needs to stop relying so much on "engineering" people both mentally and physically.

Now if you'll excuse me...I'm GRABBIN' PEELS

I will agree in part that fragility is what makes a human being, but not physically. Since the dawn of intelligence we have tried to augment our physical capabilities through technology. Transhumanism is a natural, evolutionary process.

Fair enough. These boobs didn't grow themselves. lol

No, but seriously, we need to work on our natural evolutions, not manufactured ones.

We humans need fear to survive, or else whats going to stop the average human from jumping off a tall building or stop a person from running into traffic?

If they could do this with laziness I'd be set.
SKUD  +   238d ago
Second.
Sarcasm  +   237d ago
The problem is that they are too lazy to do it with laziness.

I Agree 100% It always true that when new tech or advances come out, its for an ideal use. But history and human nature has proven that such things can be perverted and misused...

Just what the military needs. Soldiers who would just walk over IEDs, rush MG emplacements, storm bunkers, braving through RPG and sniper alleys - all this while without giving a single f**k in the world.

That's pretty cool.
