Pocket-Lint: When we reviewed the original Nintendo 3DS in March 2011 we thought that the lack of decent launch titles and limited battery life were its two biggest woes. But its believable, glasses-free 3D display - well, for some viewers, but not all - was an interesting prospect.
Cnet: The 3DS XL increases the 3DS' screens by 90 percent. It's a much more ergonomically friendly device, and the 3D effects seem to be easier to see. The XL also feels much sturdier, and the battery life is definitely better than on the original 3DS.

The mobile gaming market has changed dramatically over the last several years thanks to the advent of iOS and Android, both offering games that approach the quality of what you would expect to find on a Nintendo or Sony handheld for a fraction of the price.
