USA Today - Beats Electronics, the company best known for its Beats By Dr. Dre headphones, is acquiring the online music service MOG.
The parties did not disclose the terms of the acquisition, the first for the company co-founded by rapper and producer Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen and A&M Records.
It seems that Apple and Bose have kissed and made up. The Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly willing to bury the hatchet with, Bose, whose products were pulled from Apple stores after an infringement battle between the two electronic power houses.
So now its official, after several weeks of rumors and speculations, Apple has announced that it will acquire Beats Music and Beats Electronics in a deal worth $3 billion total with $2.6 billion of it being in cash and $400 million in stock.
Rumors are flying about the imminent purchase of headphone maker and streaming music service Beats Electronics by tech giant Apple AAPL -0.42% for a reported $3.2 billion, which has caused a lot of head scratching in both the tech and music communities. Should this deal come to pass, a number of questions come to mind.
Don't really care for Beats personally. It's good marketing, and decent quality, but I have better.
Their smaller ear bud style are pretty bad, not that loud, and not that clear. Especially compared to Bose or similar models from Sony.
I think Apple bought them because the deals with HTC.
