Leaked Xbox 720 pricing and details likely real

BGR: Purported details surrounding Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox video game and home entertainment console emerged earlier this week when a 56-page document leaked onto the Web. The supposed internal document pointed to a $299 price point for Microsoft’s “Xbox 720,” and it also outlined specs for the unit, including Blu-ray support and true 1080p output, as well as a new Kinect 2 motion and voice-based controller. The authenticity of the leaked file was questionable, however Microsoft’s actions in the days that followed suggest that it is indeed the real deal.

If its at this price point, Xbox 720 will sell like crack. Forcing Sony to come with it with the next PS! I love competition..

-Superman-4318d ago

Price means nothing, when cost is 500 dollar, but sell it for 300 dollar.

NellyNel_7_1_34318d ago (Edited 4318d ago )

And the next generation systems competition will BEGINS next year!!!! MS vs Sony! Which next generation systems will come on top? Next year will be the year for MS and Sony to go head to head at E3 (2013!)! And I can not wait!

DJ4318d ago

Nah. I say $399 to sell it at a profit. Other than that though I totally believe the leaked documents.

Main_Street_Saint4318d ago

I have to say that $399 seems to be the right price for the hardware that they are talking about.

NellyNel_7_1_34318d ago

Do anybody have that leak doc saved on their pc? I want to read it...

Microsoft will have to pay Sony for it's Blu-Ray support.. if this is true.

frelyler4318d ago

The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) is the industry consortium that develops and licenses Blu-ray Disc technology and is responsible for establishing format standards and promoting business opportunities for Blu-ray Disc. The BDA is divided into three levels of membership: the Board of Directors, Contributors, and General Members.[1]
The "Blu-ray Disc founder group" was started on May 20, 2002 by MIT and nine leading electronic companies: Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung.[2] In order to enable more companies to participate, it announced in May 2004 that it would form the Blu-ray Disc Association, which was inaugurated on October 4, 2004.

They're going to get something out of it.

Sony PlayStation 4 Riding Wave Of Twice The Social Media Buzz Of New Microsoft Xbox

Forbes - Sony was smart to get the head start on Microsoft in a next gen console battle that figures to be a two-company race, as Nintendo struggles to build momentum for Wii U. According to Jen Handley, COO and co-creator of Fizziology, PlayStation is currently seeing almost twice as much social chatter as the next gen Xbox. Fizziology tracks feeds from Twitter, Facebook and blogs, as well as additional sources like Tumblr, Disqus and Instagram, to analyze what consumers are saying about video games, technology and other topics.

Tony-Red-Grave3986d ago

It's been confirmed awhile back games will remain $60. Of course feel free to correct ^_^

ScepticTankAvenger3986d ago

Sony confirmed for the Playstation 4 that the price of games would remain at $60, but I haven't read/heard anything about Microsoft on their end. Hopefully, they will stay at $60 as well.

Next Xbox will work even when your Internet doesn’t

ARSTechnica: Should single-player games, Blu-ray playback, and live TV viewing be possible on a gaming console with no Internet connection? Most gamers would say "yes," but they have been worried that Microsoft feels differently; the next generation Xbox has been consistently rumored to require a permanent network connection.

I can't wait till the 720 comes out.
Getting tired of the xbox 360..

PFirefly3999d ago

IMO, if a console is still entertaining you at the end of its life cycle, then the company is doing something right, and will most likely carry that forward into the next gen.

No point in getting exited for a successor to a console that bores you unless you have concrete proof that its a major improvement. Wait and see what they reveal later this month.

aviator1893998d ago

I still play and purchase plenty of games, movies, xbla games, etc., but I suppose I'm just aching for some new hardware with better visuals.
Of course I'm still going to keep my 360 after the 720 comes out, but I think it's been a really long time since I've had a 360 so I suppose I want something new.

PFirefly3998d ago

That's understandable. I thought you were tired of it because of the lack of first party games. Hopefully the rumors are true and all their games are being held back for the 720. Should be a good launch if it is.

The_Blue3999d ago

Love the Xbox 360. I play it more than my PS3 that loves to just crash.

M-M3999d ago

Lol at how this didn't go through on N4G.

caseh3999d ago

Doesn't need to, theres already 3000 articles like this that have appeared since that Orth guy waffled sh*t on Twatter.
