How 4K Resolution Gaming Looks – Is It Really Worth It?

GamingBolt - With the advent of next gen consoles i.e. the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox, one term that has gained a lot of traction in the last few months is 4K gaming. Sony have earlier spoken about 4K gaming and while it won’t be hitting the PlayStation 4 at launch, it is in the pipeline for a few years later.

I'm not going to go for 4K at all, maybe when it's a lot cheaper.

There are actually cheaper model 4KTV's coming soon, so it's not that far off although I don't see 4K gaming being the new HD era we had with the PS3.

4K in gaming is definitely worth it.

It's only a matter of the when the tech is going to be affordable and the best appropriate time for game devs to put it in their budgets.

We might just suddenly be surprised in a couple of months when a 4K game would come out of nowhere.

When the ps4 is 2-3 years old pc gamers will be going 4k. Console gamers will act like 4k is no big deal until the ps5 comes out and does it.

good luck affording a PC that can do 4k Gaming and be under 1G at the same time LOL
personally i think they should skip 4K and wait till 8K is affordable enough! then itll be like stepping from SD to HD all over again, you see a good difference between 1080 and 4K, but no AN AMAZING different! its abit like going from 720 to 1080.

Sorry but the jump from 1920 by 1080 to 3840 by 2160 is huge

DVD quality or what SD looked in PAL regions if I'm correct wasn't that far of 1280 by 720

http://www.digitaltrends.co...

SD PAL 720 by 576 = 414720 pixels total
DVD PAL (horizontal scaling) 1024 by 576 = 589824 pixels total

1280 by 720 = 921600 pixels total
1920 by 1080 = 2073600 pixels total
3840 by 2160 = 8294400 pixels total

3-4 years from now? No problem.

You are supposed to view those 4k on 4k display no? how the hell to tell the difference on my monitor even if is full hd?

TABSF3992d ago

It's like saying why can I view a 12MP image on my 1MP phone.

These screen shots have been taken from a 4K monitor and we can view them because they're screen shots.

On my 1920 by 1080 at 120Hz monitor I can force 2880 by 1600 at 60Hz an it looks incredible. its called Downsampling and PC gamers have been doing it for years.
