Android is crushing Apple and Microsoft in the mobile device market

ZDNet- In five and a half years, Android has come from nowhere to crush Apple and Microsoft in the mobile device market. How long until PC OEMs decide to take a gamble on the winning mobile OS and load Android onto PCs?

This is mainly due to the rise in popularity of Samsung devices - Mainly the Samsung Galaxy S3 and now the Samsung Galaxy S4. My money is on Android to stay on top for a long time to come.

i know samsung sells most android mobiles, but it think the hardware in a lot of android phone are head and shoulders above the rest.
HTC One X, HTC One, SE Xperia Z, LG Nexus, LG Optimus G, etc are all way more advanced than anything nokia and Apple put out.

personally speaking, hardware matters to me when choosing a phone. the better the hardware, the longer the life of the phone.

even when looking at WP8 devices made by htc, the android phones have superior hardware.

Plus there's the whole 'Android being awesome' thing.

Only Samsung and Microsoft are making any serious money on Android that's the problem.

I personally don't like Android, but Samsung is doing a pretty great job with their phones. Almost every person I know they switched from iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 and some S4.

On the other hand, Apple is stuck with iOS. They haven't changed it a bit since it ever appeared. It was very innovative when it first released, but 6 years later it now feels old. It needs way more functionality. It needs a complete redesign.

Having used all three, I prefer using either android or wp8 over ios any day.

ios just feels stagnant, imo.
