How the next Xbox can win the cable TV war

Cnet - The battle for the future of television is just beginning, but it looks to be a long one. One of the key players is Microsoft, which has spent the past several years morphing its Xbox 360 from a straight-up gaming console into one of the best video-streaming boxes you can buy.

Xbox is winning the wrong war.

That-Guy4013d ago

They got lost on the battlefield.

pop-voxuli4013d ago

Exactly, what it needs to focus on is the games war, which it is on the fast track to loosing.

Except they're making money from the proto-cable side of XBL. More money from the games side apparently.

Didn't notice the potential issue of the PS3 becoming the #1 device people watch Netflix on despite having it all to themselves for months, that most if not all the apps they're going to offer will be on the PS4 - and I'm hoping for GoogleTV on it - but I guess we'll all learn if they're doing enough just to make a profit when its finally announced.

Sony PlayStation 4 Riding Wave Of Twice The Social Media Buzz Of New Microsoft Xbox

Forbes - Sony was smart to get the head start on Microsoft in a next gen console battle that figures to be a two-company race, as Nintendo struggles to build momentum for Wii U. According to Jen Handley, COO and co-creator of Fizziology, PlayStation is currently seeing almost twice as much social chatter as the next gen Xbox. Fizziology tracks feeds from Twitter, Facebook and blogs, as well as additional sources like Tumblr, Disqus and Instagram, to analyze what consumers are saying about video games, technology and other topics.

I cannot wait for the E3, where everything will ( Hopefully ) will be cleared. From Release Date, Specs to the Software prices.

Cannot Wait.

It's been confirmed awhile back games will remain $60. Of course feel free to correct ^_^

ScepticTankAvenger3985d ago

Sony confirmed for the Playstation 4 that the price of games would remain at $60, but I haven't read/heard anything about Microsoft on their end. Hopefully, they will stay at $60 as well.

Next Xbox will work even when your Internet doesn’t

ARSTechnica: Should single-player games, Blu-ray playback, and live TV viewing be possible on a gaming console with no Internet connection? Most gamers would say "yes," but they have been worried that Microsoft feels differently; the next generation Xbox has been consistently rumored to require a permanent network connection.

I can't wait till the 720 comes out.
Getting tired of the xbox 360..

PFirefly3997d ago

IMO, if a console is still entertaining you at the end of its life cycle, then the company is doing something right, and will most likely carry that forward into the next gen.

No point in getting exited for a successor to a console that bores you unless you have concrete proof that its a major improvement. Wait and see what they reveal later this month.

aviator1893997d ago

I still play and purchase plenty of games, movies, xbla games, etc., but I suppose I'm just aching for some new hardware with better visuals.
Of course I'm still going to keep my 360 after the 720 comes out, but I think it's been a really long time since I've had a 360 so I suppose I want something new.

PFirefly3997d ago

That's understandable. I thought you were tired of it because of the lack of first party games. Hopefully the rumors are true and all their games are being held back for the 720. Should be a good launch if it is.

The_Blue3998d ago

Love the Xbox 360. I play it more than my PS3 that loves to just crash.

M-M3998d ago
