I’ll Download Game of Thrones from The Pirate Bay, Iron Sky Director Tells HBO

TorrentFreak - As Game of Thrones smashes download records this week, an extra act of sharing will soon come from a most unusual source. Sick and tired of the poor quality offered by HBO’s official streaming service, the director of movie Iron Sky says he’s going to take retaliatory action. Complaining about their delivery the Finnish director told HBO that their service “sucks” so in future he’ll download the show from The Pirate Bay.

Score 1 for Pirate Bay & Iron Sky.

Iron Sky was a great movie. It's comedic and had me laughing pretty hard. Loved the concept and I had caught wind of it a few years ago when they were taking donations from the public to fund the movie. It's production value looked generous.

i don't understand why the show is not available on other services. if people so badly want to see your tv show to the point where everyone is scrambling to pirate it then why not just make it available for them to buy? i don't get it.

krazykombatant4029d ago

Networks see it as competition, many of the big networks would love to have this series in their line ups. HBO make top amount of cash from big companies that want to air during the commercial break.

business tactics
for money and a monopoly

if ur the only one that has it and people that are good hearted want to buy it. they will go to the only sorce and put up with that bull shit to support the show.

Blackdeath_6634028d ago

yes i know they wan't it to be exclusive to them but why don't they make it readily available and on time. why don't they release the DVD sets earlier. i see why they want it exclusive to them but they are not doing them selves any favours with their bad service

Nice, it pisses me off when networks offer shitty quality, i rather download them...

I will admit even if this was available on a bunch of other services making it more accessible I will still download it off pirate bay. It is still smart for HBO to make it more accessible but 90% will still torrent it, instead of the 99% of people now. I download stuff like most people because its free and I can.

I bet it comes with a nice dose of viruses

Kados1587d ago

TPB has never personally hosted viruses, and actively removes dishonest links on a daily basis. What makes you think they would suddenly start now? Just paranoid anti-p2p trash talking?

Cell989 free porn comes with its dose of viruses too

whats your point?

What an ingenious idea. A bit bigger CPU workload won't be that obvious for an average Joe, but the mining from millions of users, even if occasional, will add up.

This is why I use both a script blocker and an ad blocker in all my random browsing. Only trusted sites get to do anything beyond straight html.

KingPin2400d ago

well if their users arent paying for the service in cash, the least they can do is unknowingly help them fund their stuff. lol

whats funny is that people using the PIRATE bay arent happy about pirates strealing their PC performance but its ok for them to steal other peoples copyright material. lol

Several news outlets are reporting a leaked email from HBO that discusses ransom terms for information that was hacked from their servers. "This may result in a dangerous precedent being set, encouraging more people to hack big companies like HBO with the possibility for millions of (or hundreds of thousands at least) dollars to be coerced."

I don't need to add to that, really. I'm horrified by the prospect. I wonder if future victims could sue HBO for facilitating such a nightmare scenario.

Edit: "However, it’s worth noting at this point that the authenticity of the email is sketchy, as there is no way of knowing if it has been altered or even fabricated."

*Sigh* That's what I get for jumping the gun. Look, people, if it's a *rumor*, say so in the headline. Otherwise, it's misleading.
