Razer Edge Tablet Interview First PC Gaming Dedicated Tablet

GamerFitNation: While at CES 2013 we strolled on in to the Razer booth and found a tablet dedicated device that was made specifically for PC gaming. This is the first of its kind that will retail for $999 as its base price. That may seem pretty steep but when you have a tablet that seemingly has the power of many high power custom built laptops within it the cost almost out weighs itself in the long run when you think about it. It'll be successful in that it's the first of it's kind to truly push Tablet gaming, but I doubt it'll be a commercial success due to pricing. It cost far too much to have mass appeal, and for those will to pay $1,000 for a gaming device are better off buying a standard PC.

This is the future of mobile gaming IMO and when they can get the pricing down to the $500 point, while keeping the tablet powerful enough to handle most current-gen games, then they'll become a viable source, but until then it's just not worth it.

It's great that this tablet is pretty decent specs. i5 / i7 and 640M, but they could have done better with the specs. for that price. An AMD Trinity tablet should be plausible and at a $500 - $600 price point. That would be the route to go, and I can see that being what Sony does with the PlayStation Vita's successor in 3 - 5 years (although it won't be marketed a handheld).
