Samsung Galaxy S IV: Is there any need?

Androidome - Samsung is working hard to dominate the phone market. The release of S III last year was a clear notification to the Cupertino company that Samsung meant business and although the latter responded with an even powerful iPhone 5 but it failed to deliver what it promised and many users weighed Galaxy S III better over the iPhone 5. But now Samsung is ready to roll out S IV. Is there any need of this phone at the moment?

They are gonna push hard until they match the numerical Value of the Iphone. I.E. when the iphone 7 comes out, they want to be on the GS 7. Its all about perception. Its the main reason Xbox 360 wasn't names xbox 2. They did not want to seem inferior to the playstation 3.

i dont think it has to do with that, and if it does, it wont take long to catch up. iphone5S - sgs4. iphone5GS - sgs5. iphone 6 - sgs6

the thing is, will the next phone far surpass its predecessor in every way. if the answer is no, then its not needed coz people who have the SGS3 wont upgrade and people who are upgrading will go for the SGS3 mostly coz it will be a slight downgrade at half the price.

however, if they can add to it hardware that no other phone has, or software that can only be done on that phone due to hardware then id say it would be needed. <if that makes sense>

LOL what 5GS isn't going to happen.. Did you see 4GS get released anywhere?

Next phone need a i7 hexa core. The 10 second Battery life is fine. I will just keep it charged.

@drugAddict.

you fail to see Apples patterns. this makes you Apples unsuspecting victim.

only the odd numbered phones gets the G versions.

see, this is how apple will screw you over, skip the 5, get the 5S, boom!! 5GS motherf%&ker!! Then they'll make the iphone 6 so that if you got a iphone 5S you will think the iphone 6 is a major update coz they improved with the 5GS.

and so it goes.

@KingPin

The G wasn't added later, there was no iPhone 3, it was called 3G because it had 3G, unlike the first iPhone, so I doubt there's gonna be an iPhone 5GS

It is very needed, while their market presence is high, it is mainly because people who do not choose an iphone are basically given no choice of high end handsets. They have alot of ground to cover when it comes to software and hardware marrying as well as build materials.

I'm sorry but i see these articles and similar comments at least once a week and it blows my mind that people want tech to stop advancing just so people wont be butthurt that their phone is outdated.

But then I'm I remind myself that people like this only view their phones as status symbol devices instead of the incredibly useful tools that they actually are.

I look forward to my next phone like everyone else but all these modern super-phones will still be great devices for the 2 years (or whatever contract you sign) you have to wait.

KingPin4123d ago

actually if you buy a flagship phone from any manufacturer, those phones will actually last you 4 years.

i mean take the SGS2 for example, it had dual core back then, till today, dual core will still get the job done running the latest software version (for android). i dont think a phone is going to need more than quad-core in the next 2-3 years either. so the HTC one X, SGS3, SGNote2, LG optimus G , etc will still last you quite a while on condition you look after it obviously.

They should just starting naming these phones by year now since they release them every year.

If you own a Galaxy S4, Samsung might owe you $10 for lying about its benchmarks

The Samsung settlement is for just under $14 million dollars, but only $2.8 million is actually going to consumers.
