Each lunar landing in today's money cost about 20 billion dollars.

Or about the total annual GDP of Afghanistan, oddly.

Just as an interesting aside, it has easily cost more than double that to maintain the war in Afghanistan every year for the United States alone, not counting the billions it has cost allied countries. (UK something like $30bn+ in total and counting)
